Overview

In 2017, Napier-Reid supplied a Bio-Rotor™ Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) unit to a sewage treatment plant in a large asian metropolis to replace a preexisting unit of the same type. The RBC has a diameter of 3.6 m and a length of approximately 7.2 m, with a total effective media surface of 8,000 m².

There are many advantages that RBCs have over other types of treatment systems: they cost little to operate and maintain, do not require harmful chemicals to function, can be set up quickly and without technical experience, and retain biomass well.
